Acer has announced two different notebooks in their Aspire lineup for different market segments. The 13-inch Acer Aspire 3935-6504 is a slim and lively-looking notebook, and the Acer Aspire 8935G is a massive 18-inch behemoth. Acer has priced the Aspire 3935 at $899 (Rs. 45,000 approx.) and is yet to disclose the pricing details of the Aspire 8935, which will be available in June to US customers.
Acer Aspire 3935-6504 has a 13.3-inch HD Acer CineCrystal LED display and is equipped with the 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T7350 processor with a 3MB L2 cache and 1066MHz FSB. Intel T7350 is paired with the Intel Mobile GM45 Express chipset with integrated Intel GMA 4500MHD, and uses the 3072MB DDR2 1066MHz RAM. This notebook sports Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 over a 250GB SATA HDD. With a multi-touch supporting trackpad and a neat keyboard, this notebook weighs 4.18lbs (about 2 kg). The other features of Aspire 3935 include a dual-layer DVD SuperMulti drive, WiFi (802.11 a/g/n), three USB ports, a 5-in-1 card reader, and a 4-cell battery.
On the other hand, the monstrous Aspire 8935G, which has a chassis with a finish similar to the Aspire 3935, features the 18.4-inch full HD Acer CineCrystal LED display capable of delivering 1080p visual content. This notebook is equipped with the Intel Core 2 Duo (unspecified model and features) and the discrete ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4670 graphics card. AMD had announced the Mobility Radeon HD 4000 series graphics card at the Consumer Electronics Show 2009.
The mammoth Aspire 8935G will run Windows Vista Home Premium with SP1 and has a dual-layer combo Blu-ray drive, Wifi (802.11 a/g/n), and an 8-cell battery for longer battery life. The trackpad is surprisingly an inch closer to the left side, and thus won't be very comfortable for right-handed notebook users. This hefty notebook weighs around 4.6 kg, thanks to the 8-cell battery that adds to the weight.
