Lenovo is all set to launch a new touchscreen portable media player, the MRT800.

The Lenovo MRT800 is the company’s first touchscreen portable media player.

The Lenovo MRT800 is a 4.3-inch touchscreen media player with a 480×262 screen. It supports files like AVI, MP4, FLV, high quality FLAC audio, and is said to have a 4 GB-storage capacity.

Lenovo MRT800 also features a microSD card slot and incorporates an FM tuner and voice recording function.

Unlike the iRiver P35, there are no widgets on the Lenovo MRT800 and it is also devoid of internet connectivity. However this does not make the player less stylish.

Lenovo is yet to announce the price and the release date of the Lenovo MRT800.

Lenovo Group Limited is China’s largest and the world’s fourth largest personal computer manufacturer, after Hewlett-Packard and Dell of the US, and Acer of Taiwan.

Lenovo has also sponsored some world sporting events like the 2006 winter Olympics and the 2008 Summer Olympics.

Lenovo, heaquartered in Beijing, China, Morrisville, US, and Hong Kong produces desktops, laptops, servers, handheld computers, imaging equipment, and mobile phone handsets.

Therefore, its decision to offer a portable media players, when media players are not even very popular, comes a surprise to many.
