Sony has launched it Sony C510 Cyber-Shot phone in India. Priced at Rs 12,195, the Sony C510 Cyber-Shot phone is one of the cheapest Cyber-Shots phones in Sony’s portfolio.

The Sony C510 Cyber-Shot phone has a 3.1 megapixel camera and a unique smile shutter technology that claims to capture images as soon as it detects those white pearlies.

The popular Sony Ericsson Cyber-shot phones have garnered over 32 million handsets sales worldwide.

“We have been leaders and innovators in the camera phone segment since the inception of the company. The camera phone category has witnessed increased momentum in India with Sony Ericsson leading the wave.” said Mr. Sudhin Mathur, General Manager, Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications India.

“Today’s announcement is yet another initiative from our end to offer a breakthrough proposition to our consumers and inspire them to capture precious and spontaneous moments,” he added.

The Sony Ericsson C510 Cyber-Shot phone has a 2.2 inch-TFT display, 3G HSDPA network support, GPRS, EDGE, and HSCSD support. The phone has an accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate and 100 MB internal memory.

The phone comes with Bluetooth, USB port, WAP Browser, Geo Tagging, FM radio with RDS, Mp3/AAC/MPEG4 player and TrackID recognition facility.

Along with the smile shutter feature the phone also has many other photography features like auto focus, face-detection, active lens cover, photo light and illuminated imaging shortcut keys.

The Sony Ericsson C510 Cyber-Shot phone comes with JAVA MIDP 2.0, Voice Dial, and nine hours of battery back up.

Along with the launch of the Sony Ericsson C510 Cyber-Shot phone, the company has also announced a Smile Hunter competition.

Participants of the Smile Hunter competition will need to capture camera phone smiles and upload them on www.smilehunter.com. The Sony Ericsson Smile Hunter competition will be held from March 01 to Oct 31, 2009.

The camera phone smile photos will be evaluated by judges drawn from across the world. The winners would then get an entry into the international competitions.
